Student Life
SMR supports a well-rounded education that includes a robust fine arts curriculum and various extracurricular activities.
Clubs and Resources
All students choose a combination of clubs and resource periods at the beginning of the year. Clubs and resource periods meet during X-hour on a weekly basis. Every week students meet with their advisor. Some club options may change from year to year based on student interest. Resource periods are times when students have the opportunity to meet with their teachers to receive extra help in a subject area.
Athletics
SMR fields 43 athletic teams, and every student is encouraged to try out regardless of previous experience. SMR is a proud member of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC). The WCAC is considered one of the most competitive conferences in the country. The WCAC student-athletes are some of the most heavily recruited by NCAA colleges and universities.
Fine Arts
Our students have the opportunity to participate in annual drama productions, fine arts showcases and visual art exhibitions. Faculty, who are accomplished professionals in their field, mentor students to promote their creative use of individual talents.
Dean of Student Life
It is our priority at St. Mary's Ryken to ensure that all students have a safe learning environment. The Dean of Student Life is responsible for enforcing the policies and codes of St. Mary's Ryken in a fair and consistent manner and for supporting the faculty in classroom management.
