Preparation and Planning for Fall 2020

Because of the importance and complexity of the task of preparing for what school would look like for our Knights, planning began in April 2020.

Currently, we have a task force in place that is comprised of two groups who meet regularly:  Academic Excellence and Logistics & Health. These groups meet weekly to develop plans for the 2020 - 21 school year and will continue to do so through the summer and fall. The task force is charged with addressing the following based on a "hybid learning environment", continuation of eLearning and a complete return to daily in-person instruction and activities:

  • Academic Excellence - Curriculum and Instruction, Teaching and Learning Resources, Community Engagement
  • Logistics and Health - Space Utilization, Health and Safety, Security

In preparation for the 2020-21 school year, the task force examined every aspect of life at St. Mary’s Ryken. This group of faculty and staff developed and continues to develop concrete plans for a meaningful and safe experience for our entire community during the upcoming school year.

Please keep our task force in your prayers as they continue to work on our plans throughout the summer and fall based on best practices, CDC guidelines and the Governor's Roadmap to Recovery. Our plans will be communicated frequently throughout the coming weeks, as we move closer to the start of the school year and throughout the fall, allowing us to adjust in response to this constantly changing environment. Our mission of taking care of the students and our staff will be evident in the work of the task force. We are dedicated to the safety of our entire community, and a positive educational experience for your children in these difficult times.

If you have any questions about the plans designed within each of the stages, please contact President Rick Wood or Principal Cathy Bowes.
