Freshman and Transfer Student Orientation

Freshman Orientation is August 19-20, 2021. 

Attendance is required on both days!

During Freshman Orientation, students will prepare for the school year through several activities including: connecting with their mentors from the who will help them find their classes, meeting their teachers, learning about student activities and upcoming elections from the Student Government Association, attending technology check and participating in a “Battle of the Advisories!”

Important notes about Freshman Orientation:

  • Students report to the front of the Donnie Williams Center by 8 a.m.
  • Orientation ends at 2:40 p.m. Car riders should be dropped off and picked up in the parking lot in front of the Donnie Williams Center.
  • Students should bring their iPads.
  • Students must wear their SMR uniform.
  • Lunch will be provided on both days.
  • Bus transportation is available for all students except for St. Mary’s County residents.
  • School/yearbook photos will be taken during orientation.

Transfer Student Orientation is Friday, August 20, 2021.

Bus transportation

Bus transportation for St. Mary’s County students will begin on the first day of school. Bus transportation is NOT provided for St. Mary's County residents for Freshman or Transfer Student Orientation. Please make other arrangements.

For Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles and Prince George’s County residents, bus transportation begins with Orientation.

Details about the orientation program will be emailed to new families in early August.
