    Head Coach

Jon Lombardo is in his first season as Head Lacrosse Coach at St. Mary's Ryken High School. In addition, Coach Lombardo will also serve in the role of Assistant Athletic Director. Coach Lombardo comes to SMR after 11 years as a student-athlete and assistant coach at the University of Lynchburg in Virginia. During his time at Lynchburg, Jon recruited and coached over 25 All-American student-athletes while making 8 straight trips to the NCAA Tournament; with 1 appearance in the National Championship Game in 2015.

Coach Lombardo states " I am so lucky to have spent the last 11 years around some of the best coaches in college lacrosse-studying athletic departments and cultures. I am most passionate about building our Championship Culture here at SMR around developing our young men in Character, Ownership, Passion and Relationships."

2008: Graduated from Trinity-Pawling School lettering & Captain in Hockey & Lacrosse

2009-12: Student-Athlete at University of Lynchburg- Bachelors in Education/Masters in Educational Leadership

-2x captain, 2x All Conference, 2012 USILA All American, 2013 Supplemental Draft pick of Rochester Rattlers/MLL Lacrosse 

2013-19: Assistant Coach (Defensive Coordinator/Offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator) at Lynchburg

2014- Old Dominion Athletic Conference Champions, NCAA 2nd Round

2015- ODAC Champions, National Championship Appearance

JC Hofmeister

Varsity Assistant Coach

JC Hofmeister is in his first season as Assistant Lacrosse Coach at St. Mary’s Ryken High School. In addition, Coach Hofmeister works as a Financial Analyst on Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Lexington Park, Maryland.  Coach Hofmeister comes to SMR after 4 years as a student athlete at Eastern University in Pennsylvania. During his time at Eastern, JC was a captain and a part of the first NCAA Tournament appearances in school history.

Coach Hofmeister states, “I am very fortunate that Coach Lombardo has entrusted me with the responsibility of Assistant Lacrosse Coach at SMR. As a Southern Marylander born and breed, I am passionate about lacrosse in this community and greatly excited for the opportunity to impact young men in our local area.”

Head Coach Jon Lombardo adds "Coach Hof comes from a family of athletes, coaches and educators. His upbringing in the area, college experience playing for Brandon Childs at Eastern University and having a great relationship with his brother Michael (Head Coach of Scranton University) made Coach Hof the perfect fit. Most importantly, he embodies the culture we are building and evolving here within SMR Lacrosse." 

Coach Hofmeister will assist in all areas of the program, but primarily focus on the offense and running the substitution box on game day.

2007-2010: Graduate from Great Mills High School lettering & Captain in Soccer & Lacrosse

2007-2009: Second Team All-St. Mary’s County Boys Lacrosse

2007: Second Team Southern Maryland Athletic Conference Boys Lacrosse

2007-2009: Great Mills Offensive Player of the Year, Team MVP

 

Patrick Haley

 Varsity Assistant Coach

Patrick Haley is in his first season at St. Mary’s Ryken as coach and will head up the JV program. Coach Haley is a ’99 graduate of SMR, having lettered 4 years in lacrosse. In addition, Coach Haley captained the soccer and lacrosse teams during his time at SMR, while also earning Athlete of the Year in ’99. Coach Haley earned his bachelor’s degree in 2003 in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Management and Marketing from St. Andrews University in North Carolina. During his time at St. Andrews, he was named captain and helped lead his team to the NCAA Division II semifinals. Since his college days, Coach Haley has been involved with youth athletics on various levels, and currently sits on the board of St. Mary’s Youth Lacrosse Club. He is excited to rejoin the SMR family and assist Coach Lombardo in the lacrosse program. When Coach Haley is not helping with athletics, he owns and operates an insurance agency in Southern Maryland. He, his wife, daughter and son reside in Leonardtown and can be found at many events throughout the community.

Coach Haley states, “I was very fortunate to have great coaches and I look forward to being a positive influence, while sharing a passion for athletics with the young men of SMR.

Coach Lombardo states, "When looking for another mentor in our program to lead our program, my first concern was finding someone who represents everything we stand for at SMR and within our lacrosse program. I wanted to find someone with great character and passion, who will help educate our young men in taking ownership and building great relationships. That search started and ended with Coach Haley. He embodies what it means to be a St. Mary's Ryken Knight and we are so fortunate to have him with us in such an important developmental role. Coach Haley is someone that I would want my own children to play for! 

Coach Haley will assist in all areas of the program including offense, defense, the faceoff and goalie positions.
