The St. Mary’s Ryken and Bullis wrestling teams benefited from home-field advantage this weekend, as both schools hosted and won their conference tournaments.

St. Mary’s Ryken claimed its first Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship in program history Saturday. The Knights finished with 220.5 points, beating out last year’s champion and this year’s runner-up, St. John’s (198).

“To win the conference, it’s really important as far as building a tradition and a winning philosophy,” St. Mary’s Ryken Coach Phil Brown said. “We know we’re moving in the right direction.”
