St. Mary's Ryken Girls Ice Hockey Team Wins MAGHL Blue Championship

Girls Ice Hockey MAPHL 2022

Congratulations to the St. Mary's Ryken Girls Ice Hockey team who won the Mid-Atlantic Girls Hockey League Blue Championship with a 3-0 victory over St. John's Catholic High School. This is a back-to-back win for the Knights who first won the MAGHL championship  in 2020.

Junior Colleen Moore was named game MVP with 2 goals, senior Gabby Pierpont earned the Hard Hat, and freshman Isabella Schuster recorded her third shutout of the season.

"I am so proud of the players on this team," said Head Girls Ice Hockey Coach Chris Palombi. "They came together, as a unit, with laser point focus on winning the game as a team. The passing, the skating, the hustle and effort - it was all there from every player in earning the championship victory against St. John’s."

The Knights now move on to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference playoffs.

"Now, we get back to work and get ready for the WCAC playoffs next week," said Coach Palombi. "We have tough teams ahead of us, but all players on this team have shown they’re fearless and ready to take on any challenge presented to them.  We’re ready!"
