“Admission to interscholastic athletic events in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference entitles spectators to enjoy a competitive exhibition of skills in a Christian educational setting.  Spectators, please give the athletes positive encouragement and support.  Show respect for opposing players, coaches, spectators, and support groups.  Please refrain from booing, taunting, or intimidating the officials and opponents.  Such behavior is unfriendly and unacceptable.  Please respect the integrity and judgment of game officials; they are doing their best to promote the student athlete and the game.  Be a positive representative of your school community.”

Athletic Chain of Command:

If there are any questions or concerns involving some aspect of our athletic program, the athlete or parent should follow the chain of command.

  1. Head Coach
  2. Director of Athletics
  3. Principal

When expressing a concern with a coach, an individual should refer to and use the following guidelines:

1. Call or email the coach and make a mutually convenient appointment to discuss the concern.

2. Wait 24 hours following a game to address a concern related to a game.  Never approach a coach immediately after a contest.

3. Understand that your child should be the first line of communication with a coach in regards to sport specific concerns like playing time, scheduling concerns etc.

4. Raise your concerns in a calm and civil manner in private.  Speak and listen with the goal of mutual understanding.

5. Understand that coaching decisions are made to support the team first before the individual.

SMR spectators will:

1. Understand they are representing not just the individual but SMR as an institution and the WCAC as a league.

2. Be sportsmanlike and gracious at all times, whether in victory or defeat.

3. Positively support and respect athletes, coaches, opponents and officials in the spirit of competition both at the event AND on social media.

SMR spectators will not:

1. Possess and/or consume alcohol or use tobacco products on the campus.

2. Be allowed on the track or field, unless given access by event staff

3. Use negative, demeaning or harmful language towards athletes, coaches, spectators or officials.

4. Enter the playing field or court during the contest.

5. Damage, deface, or litter the property of an opposing school when attending a game.

6. Display posters or signs which are offensive to others.

*Failure to abide by these guidelines will result in removal from the contest and possibly future contests.
