We rally support, build school spirit, and provide resources that help Knights teams thrive—on and off the field.

The St. Mary's Ryken Athletic Boosters is an organization of parents, faculty, coaches, alumni and friends. We support the mission of St. Mary's Ryken by assisting with the needs of St. Mary's Ryken student-athletes and each athletic team.

What We Do

The purpose of the St. Mary's Ryken Athletics Boosters are

Fund the essentials that fuel athletics. We raise funds primarily through concession sales, and all proceeds go directly to support SMR athletics.
Invest in access and exposure. We cover athletic live‑streaming subscriptions so families can watch, support, and share our Knights’ performances—an investment that also increases college‑recruiting visibility.
We honor excellence on and off the field. Each season—fall, winter, and spring—we award the team with the highest cumulative GPA, recognizing the hard work, discipline, and dedication our student‑athletes bring to their academics.

A few ways the St. Mary's Ryken Athletics Boosters have recently supported SMR athletics:

Purchased Scoreboard for Softball Field
Purchased Sailboats to form a “fleet"
Stadium Concession Stand
Provided Tailgate cookout dinner prior to each seasons sports award ceremonies
Organized Half time /Half Court Shot competition for students during basketball season ($100 cash prize)
Overhauled the Athletic Trainer Gator
Purchased new score keepers box for gymnasium

Concessions

The Boosters’ largest fundraiser is operating the concession stand. Each sport has a Team parent who coordinates with parents and students to staff concessions. Teams earn a percentage of the event’s profits, while a portion is retained by Boosters to support long-term projects.

Students may also earn service hours for volunteering in the concessions stand!

Parent participation also increases your team’s year-end revenue!

How You Can Get Involved

There’s a place for everyone—and every schedule.

Volunteer a shift. Sign up to help in the concession stand (a great opportunity for parents and students earning service hours).
Lead a program. We are currently seeking volunteers for these leadership roles:
- Vice President
- Parent/Student Volunteer Chair
- Awards & Recognition Chair
- Season Pass Chair
- Special Events Chair.
Become a member. All parents, faculty, coaches, alumni, and students are welcome. Join the Boosters and help support SMR athletics.

The SMR Athletic Boosters are proud to invest directly in the student‑athlete experience. Recent support includes:

Providing pizza during Code Green spirit days to help fuel school pride and student‑athlete engagement.
Hosting guest speakers on college recruiting, giving student‑athletes and families valuable insight into the recruitment process and next‑level opportunities.
Upgrading buses for long‑distance team travel, ensuring safer, more comfortable transportation for athletes competing at distant events.
Purchasing a Tennis Tutor ball machine to strengthen training opportunities for our tennis athletes.
Contributing funds for overnight events, helping teams travel, compete, and represent SMR at extended or multi‑day competitions.
Streaming and technology that keep families connected and athletes visible.
Recognition for student‑athletes through scholarships and awards.

Our Commitments

Transparency. We steward every dollar toward student‑athlete needs and publish financial updates at monthly SMR Athletic Booster meetings and season wrap‑ups.
Inclusion. We welcome volunteers at every level of time and experience—there’s meaningful work for everyone.
Partnership. We collaborate closely with the athletic department, coaches, team parents, and school leadership to align support with real needs.
