Workshop is offered in January for incoming freshmen applying for fine arts scholarships.

Student Workshop: 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Parent Session: 1 p.m.
Topic: Scholarships 101 - What to Expect on Scholarship Day and the Value of an SMR Fine Arts Scholarship
Location: SMR Campus, Romuald Hall
Pizza will be served!

Highlights:

Get expert tips for the Performing Arts auditions. (Attendance at the workshop is not required to audition.)
Meet and connect with SMR Fine Arts faculty and current Fine Arts students.

Student Workshop will focus on:

  • Stage presence, proper attire, instrument, music preparation, audition materials and scholarship expectations
  • Students who do not plan to audition but who are interested in fine arts classes or participating in SMR theatre productions should also consider attending to meet the faculty, students and learn more about the arts at SMR!
  • We will also review fine arts classes offered at SMR and preparation for registration day in March.

What to Bring:

  • Chorus: Please bring your singing voice and music you are considering auditioning with. 
  • Dancers: Please wear dance attire.
  • Instrumental: Please bring your band or orchestra instrument and the current music that you are working on.
  • Piano: Please bring current music that you are working on. 
  • Theatre: Please have two paper-copies of your one-minute monologue. Be prepared to share a reading of your monologue during the workshop. You may also bring a copy of your resume/list of previous performances for review and suggestions.
