SMR utilizes an online bookstore called MBS Direct for convenient, one-stop shopping for required course materials.. Beginning in August, the SMR book store may be accessed by linking to https://bnck-12.com/smrhs. Books can be purchased prior to the beginning of the school year, but it is advisable to meet your teachers in the first week of school before purchasing.

Freshman Experience is our in-person, interactive, weeklong summer program for incoming freshmen! The Freshman Experience program is designed to acclimate incoming freshmen to St. Mary’s Ryken. It prepares students academically and socially for the upcoming year. Incoming students have the opportunity to meet faculty and fellow classmates, become familiar with the SMR campus, and develop new skills before the year begins.

Families may choose one of two weeks: July 12–15 or July 26–29. The program runs Monday–Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All new students must have a current health physical on file before the first day of school. All physical forms must be submitted online and paper copies are not accepted. All student-athletes must have a current health physical on file before tryouts begin to be eligible to participate in athletics, per Washington Catholic Athletic Conference requirements. Physical forms must be dated after June 1, 2021.

The following forms must be completed and submitted prior to a student being eligible for sports tryouts and practices:

• Athletic Consent Waiver Form (completed by parent/guardian)
• Athletic Medical History Questionnaire Form (completed by parent/guardian)

• Concussion Information Form (completed by parent/guardian)
• COVID-19 Medical History Questionnaire and Waiver of Liability (completed by parent/guardian)

All physical forms MUST be submitted online and be completed by the physician. No paper forms will be accepted.

St. Mary’s Ryken Athletics and Sports Medicine offers sports physicals on campus for SMR students.

Where: St. Mary's Ryken Campus, Donnie Williams Center (enter the building no earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled time, enter through the front main doors and follow signs down to the lower level).

International Student Orientation is August 18, 19, 20 and 23. Attendance is required on each day!

During Orientation, students will prepare for the school year through several activities including: connecting with their mentors from the who will help them find their classes, meeting their teachers, learning about student activities and attending technology check.

Important notes about Orientation:

• Students report to SMR by 8 a.m.
• Orientation ends at 2:40 p.m. Car riders should be dropped off and picked up in the parking lot in front of the Donnie Williams Center.
• Students should bring their iPads.
• Students must wear their SMR uniform if they have the pieces, if not they will be given the opportunity to purchase the SMR uniform. If students do not have the uniform for orientation, please dress in similar clothing such as a polo shirt and dress pants or a skirt for girls. 
• Lunch will be provided on each day.
• School/yearbook photos will be taken during orientation.

The first day of school for all students is Tuesday, August 24. Please stay tuned for additional details. 

The first day of school is a half day. The school day begins at 8:10 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m.

This summer, the camps run from June 21 through July 23. Summer Knights offers a variety of indoor and outdoor camps for students in grades K-12.

• St. Mary's Ryken camps are taught by St. Mary's Ryken faculty and coaches with help from student volunteers. 
• Each week St. Mary's Ryken Summer Knights campers have the option to add on Early Knight or Afternoon Knight activity camps from 7:30 - 9 a.m or 3:30 - 5 p.m. Please see the camp registration page for more information. 
• Summer Knights at St. Mary's Ryken provide students with the unique opportunity to explore specialty camps to learn a valuable skill, talent or take their sport to the next level! 
• All Summer Knights St. Mary's Ryken camps run from Monday - Thursday. 
• Summer Knights will follow all safety guidelines provided by authorities including increased cleaning and sanitation, social distancing, PPE and limiting group sizes. The safety of our campers and staff is our priority.

All students are required to provide their own iPad for daily use at school. They may be purchased on your own or through the SMR iPad purchase program. SMR and Apple have an educational partnership for our student community. We highly encourage you to purchase an iPad through this program because each iPad will be automatically configured to the SMR network and loaded with all school programs and apps. Plus, an iPad purchased through SMR includes four years of Apple Care.

The deadline to order an iPad through the SMR Purchase Program is May 15.
