Block Schedule & X-Hour
The school day starts at 8:10 a.m. and ends at 2:40 p.m.
Students participate in 80-minute classes. All students have a 30-minute lunch break in the middle of their day.
What is the block schedule?
St. Mary’s Ryken students follow a block schedule format.
- Students take 7 classes per semester.
- Each school day is assigned a color day - blue day or green day.
- Students attend 4 classes per day. For example: On blue day, students attend classes 1 through 4 and on green day, students attend classes 5 through 7 and X-Hour.
What’s X-hour?
X-Hour stands for Xaverian Hour, and is the time of day when students get extra help from their teachers, participate in clubs, or meet with their faculty advisor. X-Hour enables all SMR students to participate in extra-curricular activities and seek help from faculty during the school day, no matter what they have scheduled after school.
