Project Lead the Way Email Header

St. Mary's Ryken has been recognized as a 2024-25 Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Distinguished School. It is among a select group of high schools across the U.S. to be recognized for its commitment to inspiring and engaging its students to unlock their potential through its PLTW Computer Science, Biomedical Science, and Engineering programsPLTW is a national nonprofit organization that creates transformative learning experiences and empowers students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills for future careers.  

The PLTW Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs. To be eligible for the designation, SMR had to meet multiple criteria during the 2023-24 school year, including the number of PLTW courses available to students, the percentage of students enrolled in PLTW, and the percentage of students taking more than one PLTW course.

Platinum Distinction for AP Excellence

AP Platinum

In 2024, St. Mary’s Ryken earned the College Board’s highest recognition for outstanding faculty and student performance in the Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Roll. 

Advanced Placement (AP) coursework equips students for college rigor, offers opportunities for earning college credits during high school, and can significantly reduce college expenses while boosting success.

The Class of 2024's AP achievements include:

  • 81% of Class of 2024 graduates took at least one AP exam during high school. 
  • 58% of Class of 2024 graduates scored 3 or higher on at least one AP exam during high school.
  • 33% of the Class of 2024 graduates took 5 or more AP exams

Seal of Biliteracy

The Seal of Biliteracy is a prestigious recognition awarded to graduating seniors who have achieved proficiency in English and at least one additional language. This distinction, displayed on the student’s transcript, celebrates their dedication to language learning and cultural understanding.

Earning the Seal of Biliteracy not only honors students’ academic accomplishments but also strengthens college applications and enhances career opportunities in our increasingly global society.
