Our Campus
Located in the heart of Leonardtown, Maryland, SMR is approximately 55 miles southeast of Washington, D.C. The 87-acre, waterfront and 100% wireless campus overlooks Breton Bay and consists of seven buildings.
Our college-like campus setting promotes maturity and independence and prepares students for life after high school. Various spaces for personal reflection and study are located on campus, both indoors and outdoors.
The Donnie Williams Center opened in the summer of 2019 and provides 48,000 square feet of modern, spacious facilities for many types of school, spiritual, community and sporting events.
The Media Center offers students a space to work on projects, enjoy quiet time, work on group assignments and participate in study groups. In addition to the thousands of print materials available for check out in the Media Center, digital materials are available for both academic and personal reading through our Overdrive digital library. Our partnership with the St. Mary’s County Public Library System provides all SMR students, regardless of their county of residence, with access to all of the print and digital resources in public libraries throughout the state.
The MakerSpace in the Media Center gives students access to equipment and guidance needed to imagine, design and create. From dynamic presentation materials, stop motion, green screen videography to circuitry and 3D modeling, the ever growing MakerSpace allows students to bring their ideas to life.
The Writing Lab is a peer to peer service where writing Lab assistants work one-on-one with students to provide guidance and assistance through all stages of the writing process. While the primary focus of the Writing Lab is academic writing, writers are welcome to request a session when writing for pleasure as well.
SMR athletic facilities include a state-of-the-art, 1,000-seat outdoor sports stadium with a professional-level, NFL-grade turf field and a six-lane track, locker rooms, weight room and team rooms.
The Campus Café offers daily full-service dining options including hot breakfast and lunch. A professional chef and his team prepare fresh, healthy choices.
The Campus Store sells uniform polo shirts, SMR ties, gym uniforms, spirit wear, school supplies and snacks. The store is open each school day.
