Currently, Coach Senna is the Technical Director of the Maryland Rush Soccer Club and Head Coach of the Maryland Rush 2005 Girls National League Team as well as the Maryland 13U Girls ODP State Pool. He's proven his coaching experience success as a Director of Coaching, both with St. Mary’s Youth Soccer for two years, and with Central Virginia United Soccer Club (formerly Lynchburg United Soccer Club, Virginia) for five years. Additionally, he coached for three years as an Assistant Men’s Coach at Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, VA and six years in the Virginia Beach City Public School System (Head Boys Soccer Coach at Virginia Beach Middle School and Assistant Boys Coach at Kempsville Middle School).

"Coach Senna immediately stood out as a high-level mentor and educator in the game of soccer," said SMR Athletic Director, Jon Lombardo. "He has extensive experience at extremely competitive club soccer programs and is a former collegiate soccer coach in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, which is deeply rooted in excellence of soccer tradition. Most importantly, his character and passion aligned with our vision and mission and what it means to represent St. Mary's Ryken. I am confident he will continue to build the girls soccer program culture to a championship level, as they come off their best season in program history last year having reached the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) Semi-Finals. It is our goal to surround our student-athletes amongst great leaders with the passion to create a transformational experience through sport, and we know Steve can do that for the program."

"As I take on this coaching position, I am looking forward to bringing the program to the best level possible in the WCAC and to assist my players with their goals on and off the field," said Coach Senna. "My immediate goals as the new head girls soccer coach is to get to know the returning players as quickly as possible and bring the program back as quickly and safely as possible in the COVID-19 return to play era."

Before beginning his full-time coaching career, Coach Senna served a twenty-year military career in the United States Navy before retiring in 1999.
