St. Mary's Ryken Students Performed at the White House!
Choral Students Perform at the White House
On Saturday, December 8, 50 students made up of St. Mary's Ryken choral students and SMR Youth Honors Chorus members (4-8th graders from local public and private schools) traveled to the White House to sing to guests in the East Room. They performed during the open house for White House employees and their families. Students performed their set twice and then were able to tour the White House.
From the White House Office, "Your group truly made the Holiday Open House a wonderful experience for all."
"It was truly an honor for our choir to sing at The White House, and it was a blessing to represent our school community!" said Lilly Bull '20.
"I am very proud that our students were selected to perform," said Choral Director and Fine Arts department chair, Mrs. Kim Norris. "They have worked very hard and it was a joy for them to be able to sing Christmas carols during the holiday season at such an important historical and significant government building as the White House."
The students were conducted by Mrs. Kim Norris and Mrs. Diana Washabaugh, SMR '05.
