Congrats to New SMR Signed Student-Athletes

In recent presentation ceremonies, St. Mary's Ryken student-athletes signed national letters of intent for the college they plan to attend in the fall of 2017.

From the football team, E.J. Barnes has been a member of the varsity team at SMR for two years. He was named 1st team All County his Junior and Senior years and as a senior was Honorable Mention all WCAC his final season. He was named to the Honor Roll twice in his career. He will be attending NCAA Division II Notre Dame College in South Euclid Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. Last year the Falcons went 9-2 narrowly missing the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs. They are a member of the prestigious Mountain East Conference.

Joey Bryner has been a member of the varsity baseball team for 3 years. He was named to the honor roll 12 quarters coming into his final one. He will be attending NCAA Division III St. Mary's College of Maryland. The Seahawks are currently 9-20 overall. St. Mary's College is one of only two Public Honors Colleges in the United States and has the third highest 4-year graduation rate amongst public colleges in the U.S. It is ranked 6th in the Nation for Top Liberal Arts Public Schools by US News and World Reports.

Haley Bullis has been a member of the varsity soccer team at SMR for three years. She will be attending St. Mary's College of Maryland, a NCAA Division III school. The Seahawks record last season was 10-6-2 and they advanced to the Capital Athletic Conference semi-finals.

Malik Cousar has been a member of the varsity football team for two seasons. He made the honor roll six quarters at SMR. He will be attending Stevenson University. The Mustangs are a NCAA Division III school who started the football program in 2010. This past season they went 9-2 overall earning their first ever Middle Atlantic Conference title and a NCAA Playoff berth. They ranked 20th in the top 25 poll.

Marion D'Aurora is a 4-year letter winner and named SMR MVP for at all 4 seasons. She holds many marks in the school record book. She was on the Honor roll for 14 quarters. She will be attending NCAA Division III St. Vincent College of Latrobe, PA. A Roman Catholic School, the Bearcats went 6-3 in duals last season and 3-2 in the President's Athletic Conference.

Jenalyse Edejer has been a member of the girls' varsity soccer team at SMR for three years. She will be attending Rosemont College in Rosemont, Pennsylvania. Rosemont is a Catholic Liberal Arts college located 11 miles west of Philadelphia. The Ravens went 4-13-1 last season and are members of the Colonial States Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III.

Quinn Ellenwood has been a member of the varsity lacrosse team for 3 years. He was named Honorable Mention All-St. Mary's County following his junior year. He has made the honor roll 14 quarters. He will be attending NCAA Division II Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. A Roman Catholic school the Belmont Abbey Crusaders are a member of Conference Carolinas.

Brenna Goebel has been a member of the varsity volleyball team for 2 seasons. After coming to SMR her junior year, Brenna earned Honorable Mention All WCAC and 1st team all County her junior year and 2nd Team all WCAC and 1st Team All county her senior season. She signed a letter of intent with College of Saint Rose (NCAA Division II) in Albany, New York. The Golden Knights went 11-15 last season and 6-8 in the Northeast 10 conference.

Chris Greene came to SMR his junior year and was named Honorable Mention All WCAC and 1st Team all County in that year. His senior year he was named Honorable Mention All WCAC and Honorable Mention All County. He will be attending NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit University a Roman Catholic School in Wheeling, WV. Last season the Cardinals under former SMR coach Danny Sancomb went 25-8 overall and 16-6 in the rigorous Mountain East Conference. They went to the Finals of the Atlantic Regional falling to the eventual National Runner Up. It was their 2nd consecutive year making the NCAA Tournament.

Jonathan Hickey was a member of the varsity football team for 1 season. He made the honor roll 10 quarters. He will be attending NCAA Division III St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. St. Olaf was ranked 53rd in the nation for Liberal Arts Schools in the latest US News and World Report.

Hunter Imbriale is has been a member of the varsity lacrosse team for 4 seasons. He was named 2nd Team All WCAC his sophomore year and 1st team All WCAC and 1st Team all County his junior year. He has made the President's List honor roll 14 quarters. He will be attending NCAA Division III York College of York PA.

Tucker Jameson has been a member of the varsity lacrosse team for 2 seasons. He has made the President's List Honor Roll 14 quarters. He will be attending NCAA Division III's the University of Dallas. The University of Dallas is a Catholic institution which ranks 12th among Western Regional University's on US News and World reports listing.

Blair Leach, football team player, has committed to Randolph Macon College in Ashland Virginia. The Yellow Jackets are members of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III. Last year they won the conference and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs falling to John's Hopkins University in the 1st round. They tied a school record for victories with a 9-2 record.

Mackenzie Loewe has been a member of the varsity volleyball team for 4 seasons. She was named All WCAC and All Country her sophomore year, 2nd Team all WCAC and 1st team all-County her junior year and 1st Team all WCAC and County as well as County Athlete of the year her senior year. She made the Presidents list honor roll 14 quarters. She will be attending NCAA Division III Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA. Last season the Yellow Jackets went 24-8 overall and 11-0, champions of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Beyond the regular season title the Yellow Jackets won the ODAC Conference Tournament and advanced to the 2nd round of the NCAA Division III tournament. Randolph Macon has won 7 straight ODAC regular season championships.

John Makell has been a member of the varsity football team at SMR for three years and signed a National Letter of Intent with Seton Hill University, a Roman Catholic School in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. The Griffons are a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and NCAA Division II. The school is located in a suburb of Pittsburgh. Last year the school led NCAA Division II in passing yards and has a high-powered attack in the stronger Western division of the PSAC.

Frank McGarvey was a three-year member of the boy's soccer team. He has made the honor roll 14 quarters entering his final one. During his senior season, Frank was named Honorable Mention All-WCAC and Ryken Award winner for the representing SMR's mission both in and out of the athletic arena. He will be attending NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit University. A Roman Catholic School in Wheeling, WV, Wheeling Jesuit is a member of NCAA Division II and the prestigious Mountain East Conference.

Alex Miller has been a member of the varsity lacrosse team for 3 seasons. He has made the President's List Honor Roll 14 quarters. He will be attending NCAA Division III Albright College of Reading, PA. Albright College has been named one of the Best Northeastern schools by the Princeton Review for 13 consecutive years.

Nicholas Pe was a member of the varsity football team for two seasons. He made the Honor Roll six semesters while at SMR. He will be attending St. Vincent College. The Bearcats are an NCAA Division III school competing in the President's Athletic Conference. This past season they went 5-5. St. Vincent is a Catholic Liberal Arts School located in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, just 40 miles from Pittsburg. The campus has hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers pre-season training camp since 1966.

Isaiah Randolph was a 2-year member of the varsity football team. He has made the honor roll 12 quarters at SMR. In his senior season he was named first team all-county and 3rd team All WCAC. He also earned the Coach's Award his final season for showing great commitment and determination. He will be attending Stevenson University with Malik.

Jackson Schmidt has been a member of the varsity baseball team for 2 years. He will be attending NCAA Division III Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA. The Dutchmen are 19-14 overall and sit in 4th place in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Division. Lebanon Valley College is consistently named to the US News and World Reports Best Regional Colleges in the North and Best Value School lists.

Joey Snight has been a member of the varsity lacrosse team for 3 seasons and was named Honorable Mention All-County following his junior season. He has made the Honor Roll in 14 quarters. He will be attending NCAA Division II Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. A Roman Catholic school the Belmont Abbey Crusaders are a member of Conference Carolinas.

Hauns White was a 2-year member of the varsity football team. He has made the honor roll all 3 quarters in his senior year. In his senior season, he was named 1st Team all County and 3rd team all WCAC. Hauns will be attending St. Vincent College.

Also from the boy's soccer team is Trey Wolfe. He is a two-year member of the varsity team. He has made the honor roll 6 quarters. He was named Honorable Mention all WCAC his senior year. He will be attending NCAA Division I Wright State University. The Raiders went 11-6-3 overall last year including a 7-1-1 mark in Horizon League action. They won the regular season title and finished runner up in the conference last season. Wright State is a public research university in a suburb of Dayton Ohio with nearly 18,000 students. The soccer team's mark last season was its best since 1998.
