Job Summary
St. Mary’s Ryken is continually seeking passionate, dedicated teachers for grades 9-12. While we welcome candidates from all disciplines, we have a particular need for educators in Science and Math. SMR offers dynamic STEM pathways including Engineering, Biomedical Science, and Computer Science, creating a stimulating environment for both students and educators alike.
Our state-of-the-art STEM lab, Flight Academy and the Project Lead the Way programs highlight our commitment to providing innovative, hands-on learning experiences. SMR is a place where motivated students and cutting-edge resources come together to create a truly rewarding teaching experience.
At SMR, teachers enjoy the freedom to develop their own course plans - without district-mandated lesson plans, tests or rubrics. This allows for flexibility and creativity in meeting students' needs, while incorporating each educators' unique teaching style.
Requirements:

A Master's degree is preferred but not required.

The most critical qualification is the ability to create a rigorous, yet engaging classroom environment, ensuring all students are well-prepared for post-secondary education.

Proficiency in technology and teaching in a 1:1 iPad environment is highly valued; however, we provide training for candidates who bring other strengths but may lack experience in technology integration.

Additional valuable qualities include strong organizational and interpersonal skills, familiarity with current STEM education trends, and demonstrated expertise in critical thinking, analysis and writing instruction.

Maryland teacher certification (or ability to attain within three years) is required.
