Building Maintenance Worker (Seasonal)

St. Mary's Ryken is seeking applications for a seasonal Building Maintenance Professional.

Status:  Seasonal/Hourly (Temporary)

This position reports directly to the Director of Facilities and is responsible to assist in the preparation of school building and grounds for the 2024-25 school year.  The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and able to work 32-40 hours per week (7AM - 3PM) during the 2024 Summer months.  This seasonal employee must also maintain a valid driver's license and pass a criminal background check. 

Responsibilities

1.     Assist Director of Facilities in all phases of facility maintenance.

2.     Utilize acceptable safety procedures in the performance of duties.

3.     Carry out tasks as assigned within a reasonable period and then proceed to the next set of assignments.

4.     Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.

5.     Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

6.     Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

7.  Repair, prepare and paint walls, doors and various other surfaces.

8.  Assemble repair, and move furniture.

9.  Perform general cleaning of buildings and grounds for ensure a healthful and esthetically pleasing environment.

1.     Repairs - Ability to perform basic repairs.

2.     Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment  and tools.

3.     Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. 

4.     Problem Solving - Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

5.     Equipment Selection - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.

6.     Time Management - Managing one's own time in order to enhance productivity.

7.     Reliable-Demonstrate the ability to take on responsibility and to be reliable.

8.     Craftsmanship -Take pride in a job well done.
