Course Description

 

          This course will introduce basic application features of Microsoft Office 2007.  It will examine Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher individually, as well as, collectively as a Suite.  Listed below are the topics to be covered for each program.

Course Objective

 

  1. To acquaint students with Microsoft Office 2007, so upon completion, they will be knowledgeable and comfortable using a computer in a Windows environment.

  2. To explain concept and features that relate to each program in daily exercises.

  3. To incorporate all the programs together using integrated projects, so the student can utilize their knowledge of each program to create a finished product.

 Classroom Rules

 

  1. Each student will be on time for class and promptly begin working.  TARDINESS will not be tolerated.

  2. Students will arrive for class “in dress code”.

  3. Prior to leaving class, students will ensure workstations are left neat and orderly (chairs pushed in, no papers left in desks, etc.)

  4. No food, drinks, or chewing gum is allowed in the classroom at any time.

  5. All problems with computers must be reported to the instructor immediately.

 

Homework Policy

 

  1. NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Homework is due at the beginning of class on the day it is due.

  2. Students who leave school early for appointments/sports activities, etc., are responsible for turning in any “due” work prior to leaving school.

 

Grades

 

The following areas will be combined to determine the quarter grade:

1.      Quizzes                       10%

2.      Tests                           30%

3.      Projects                      40%

4.      Homework                  20%

 

The following areas will be combined to determine semester grade:

1.      First Quarter                40%

2.      Second Quarter            40%

3.      Exam                           20%

          Please consult the teacher’s website at http://www.smrhs.org/technology/pmcguigan on a regular basis especially when questions arise concerning assignments and tests.  Resources to aid study will be included on the site.  Daily viewing would be a good habit for every student.  Downloads of assignments, some worksheets and special resources will be available.
