Mock Trial 2008-2009
Thank you for participating as a member of the St. Mary’s Mock Trial team. This exciting education program is sponsored by the Maryland State Bar Association, the Maryland State Department of Education, and the Maryland Judicial Conference Public Awareness Committee.
As described in your casebook, Mock Trial has four primary objectives: 1. To further understanding and appreciation for the law, court procedures, and the legal system. 2. To increase proficiency in basic life skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and critical thinking. 3. To promote better communication and cooperation between the school system, the legal profession, and the community at-large. 4. To heighten enthusiasm for academic studies as well as career consciousness for law-related professions.
Our primary objective is to learn, not necessarily to win. Make sure that you read carefully through the rules and guidelines included in your casebook. Have your parent’s sign the permission slip below and return it to me as soon as possible.
We have been blessed this year with the assistance of Mr. Sam Baldwin, who is serving as our attorney coach. We will be meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week until our meets have concluded.
I look forward to a successful year and a wonderful learning experience.
Sincerely, Ms. Carr Mock Trial Coordinator
