Label in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS the following: EGYPT ASIA MESOPOTAMIA ANATOLIA SAHARA ARABIAN DESERT PALESTINE PHOENICIA (see page 72) 2. Read pages 71-77 sections on Phoenicians - The Phoenicians 3. Begin taking notes on the chart provided in your packet. There will be a 3x5 card quick quiz on the Phoenicians next class. 4. Bring your colored pencils to the next class! Assignment tonight: Finish pages 71-74 and taking notes on chart for the Hebrews in preparation for a quick quiz next class HWH 1 – 11/4 HWH 2 – 11/4 Day 3 - Class: The Hebrews Place in History Focus question: What are the Hebrew’s legacies to history? Assignment tonight: 1. Read pages 38-41 and take notes on chart on the Assyrians 2. Read begin pages 145-152 also and take notes on chart on the Persians. 3. Quick quiz next class is on the Assyrians HWH 1 – 11/5 HWH 2 – 11/5 Day 4 – Class: The Assyrians and the Persians Focus question: Why did the Assyrians fail to rule their empire for long? Assignment tonight: 1. Finish your reading and note taking on the Persians. 2. Be able to compare Cyrus the Great and Darius HWH 1 – 11/6 HWH 2 - 11/7 Day 5 - Class: Film: Engineering an Empire: The Persians Focus question: Why were the Persians able to successfully rule a three-river valley empire? Assignment tonight: 1. Add details to the film guide if necessary. 2. A regular quiz next class on your chart to date. Do some review of Phoenicians, Hebrews, Assyrians, Chaldeans, and Persians. 3. Read pages 75-78 on the Minoans and begin Chart.

Using lower case letters and a dot for each, the cities of Mycenae, Sparta, Athens, Knossos c. Using ALL CAPITALS LETTERS label: PELOPONNESUS, LYDIA, CRETE, MACEDONIA 3. Your quick quiz will include both chart and map. REMINDER: YOU HAVE A LONG RANGE READING ASSIGNMENT DUE DAY 10 – THE ARTICLE “BATTLE OF GAUGEMELA” AND QUESTION SHEET.

Assignment tonight: 1. Read pages 160-164. 2. Add notes to chart that reflect the changes taking place in Athens and Sparta after the Persian Wars. 3.
