Alumni

A hallmark of a Xaverian education is forming enduring personal relationships.  Many alums say that their best friends now are the ones they made while at St. Mary's Ryken, or St. Mary's Academy or Ryken High School.

Stay connected.

In order to receive the Connections magazine and invitations to Reunion and other class events, we need to have your current contact and mailing information on file.  To update your information, download this information form. Fill it in and return by e-mail to advancement@smrhs.org

Alumni Volunteer Opportunities

Please take a few moments to look at the list of volunteer opportunities below and contact the Advancement Office if you would like to help.

The proceeds from all of these events directly benefit all of St. Mary's Ryken students and volunteers are crucial both to plan and to run the event.  Each event will have a chairperson, so if you see one that especially interests you, please consider stepping up to be the chair.

Phonathon

Selected Sundays and Mondays in October, November, January and February - 6-8:30 p.m.

The Phonathon is an annual fundraising event to benefit the St. Mary's Ryken Fund, an unrestricted fund that meets the most pressing needs of our school and our students.  Parent and student volunteers call SMR families requesting a gift to the SMR Fund.  You can volunteer for one evening or for several.

The Annual Spring Gala

March 27, 2010

The Gala is SMR's premier fundraising event and the Gala Planning Committee works closely with the Advancement Office to organize this event.  There are many subcommittees to assist in the planning and management of this event.  Several planning meetings will be held.  All proceeds benefit tuition assistance.

  • Decorating Committee - responsible for the design, planning and set-up of the decorations for the hall where the event is held.

  • Sponsorship Committee -ask for event sponsorship support from businesses, organizations and individuals
  • Auction Committee - gather and organize donations from local community members and businesses for both the silent and live auctions.  Also aid in preparing item descriptions for the auction catalog.

  • Set-Up/Clean-up Committee - help with getting ready for the event the day prior and that day and help with getting everything back the way it was.  May need to be at one meeting, but otherwise, not much up-front planning needed.

  • Pillar Hospitality - The Pillars of the Community are announced at a pre-Gala reception (usually a week or two before the Gala) and recognized during the Gala.  This committee helps with the planning

  • Entertainment and Food/Beverages - the committee for those who enjoy throwing dinner parties.  Help with planning the menus and music for the Gala.

The 2009 St. Mary's Ryken Golf Classic

September 2010

Volunteers stuff registration bags, register players, and help the event run smoothly that day.  Contact the Advancement Office to volunteer.
