Mr. William Morris Room 216, Rupert Hall

E-mail: will.morris@smrhs.org

REQUIRED Text: Glencoe Algebra 2; Integration, Applications and Connections (there is a classroom copy, so leave your purchased text at home)

REQUIRED Materials: 3 Ring Binder with sections (math only) with pockets for handouts, TI-83 or higher Calculator, pencils (no pens)

Course Description

PREREQUISITES: 3311 or 3312. This is an elective semester course designed as a continuation and enrichment of Algebra II fundamentals, including a reemphasis of polynomials and radical expressions, polynomial functions, exponential and logarithmic functions and series and sequences.

Quarterly Grading Policy

Tests – 50%

Quizzes – 30%

Homework, Classwork, Participation– 20%

Final Grade

1st Quarter—40%, 2nd Quarter—40%, Final Exam—20%

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:

  1. You are to come to class in uniform and be ready to work; notebooks, homework, pencils, and calculators out on desk and ready to start the Warm Up (if provided).
  2. All homework is to be done in your notebook.  You are expected to do all homework assigned You will have one day for every day absent (up to one week) to present makeup work.  WORK MUST BE MADE UP WITHIN ONE WEEK, otherwise it becomes a zero.  A syllabus will be provided on my website, so stay current, or work ahead HOMEWORK WILL BE UPDATED EVERY 7 DAY CYLCE ON THE WEB.
  3. Quizzes and Tests missed due to absence are to be scheduled by the student with me the day the student returns.  The date will be set and the student is responsible for taking the evaluation on that day.
  4. You are to follow and uphold ALL the criteria in the student-parent handbook including attendance, and the SMR HONOR CODE.
  5. You are to respect the property and rights of all individuals in the class; no disruptive behavior. There is to be no food, drinks, or gum inside of the classroom.
  6. Academic dishonestly – cheating – is a conscious choice.  Any appearance of impropriety – visible notes during a quiz or test, eyes on another student’s paper, etc. –  will result in a 0% for any assignment or evaluation and the most severe accountability will be recommended.  This is a very simple concept and I expect each of my students to make the wise choice – to act with integrity.
