Course Description:

 

(H) Spanish III aims to continue to develop the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills acquired in Spanish II, and to prepare students interested in continuing on to Spanish IV or AP Spanish Language.  The class is structured around one primary text, and will of consist exercises, activities, essays, projects and readings which will enhance the students’ understanding of previously learned vocabulary, grammatical structures and various aspects of a wide array of Spanish-speaking cultures, as well as introduce new topics in all of the above mentioned areas.  Students are expected to speak, read and write in Spanish, as well as respond to authentic audio sources.  This course aims to continue to foster excitement for the language, which requires commitment, enthusiasm and active participation from all students. 

 

Course Goals/Objectives:

 

-To foster an excitement for the Spanish language.

-To inspire confidence in speaking, reading, writing, and listening in Spanish.

-To prepare students who wish to continue on to more advanced Spanish classes.

-To provide an understanding of the vocabulary, grammatical structures and Hispanic culture appropriate for third-year Spanish students.

-To encourage global thinking, citizenship and responsibility.

 

 

 

 

Instructional Methods:

 

Students will engage in group readings, oral presentations, role plays, reading assignments, question and answer sessions, responding to visuals, written assignments, listening assessments, projects, internet assignments using the textbook website, and class discussion.

Make-Up Work Policy:

ฎ1 All materials are due in class on the date that they are due – I will not take late work after your class period is over – THIS IS A SCHOOL WIDE POLICY

ฎ2 Work marked with a "0" is a 0% for that assignment and cannot be made up.

ฎ3 Work marked with "Sick" is work that you can make up at any time.

ฎ4 Work marked with "EXC" is work that is not counted toward your grade because you are excused from the assignment for whatever reason – sports, retreat, etc. This designation does not include homework – no one is excused from homework.

ฎ5 Projects, papers, etc. must be turned in the day it is due – no exceptions.

ฎ6 Missed quizzes and test must be made up within 3 days of your return – if you have an extended absence, we will discuss options for making up assignments.

Classroom Procedures/Policies:

 

ฎ1 Follow all "SMR House Rules".

ฎ2 Come in and do the posted drill.

ฎ3 Once drill time is up, we will pray & review the drill.

ฎ4 Homework may then be collected or checked.

ฎ5 Class will proceed with lesson & review.

The Golden Rules in my classroom:

Treat others the way you would like to be treated.

The Deadline for Complaints was yesterday.

No EXCUSES – do not say you are sorry, just never do it again.

Always say "Please" and "Thank you".

Don’t tell me no lines and keep your hands to yourself.

Use of any online translator on any project or paper will result in an automatic "0" for the project/paper/homework and a visit to Honor Council.
