Ways to Give

St. Mary's Ryken appreciates your gifts. The following are all ways to give to our school:

  • Gifts of Cash: Cash or checks are often the most convenient gift. A credit card is also a very convenient vehicle for a gift.
  • Gifts of Appreciated Securities: Securities are one of the best assets to use in making a charitable gift. In most cases, an outright gift of appreciated securities entitles the donor to a handsome income tax deduction. In the case of securities that have been held for more than one year, the donor may avoid the capital gains tax.
  • Bequest: A donor may include a bequest to St. Mary's Ryken in a will or a trust. A bequest may be for a specific amount, a percentage of the donor's estate, or even a residual portion. Such gifts can help offset estate taxes and may allow a donor to make a significant gift that might not have been possible during his or her lifetime.
  • Remainder Gifts: Through a remainder gift, a donor may contribute assets to St. Mary's Ryken and retain the income from those assets for herself/himself or another beneficiary for life. A remainder gift allows the donor to take an income tax charitable deduction for a portion of the value of the gift. Furthermore, if appreciated securities are used to fund the gift, the donor may not pay capital gains tax on the appreciation.
