At St. Mary’s Ryken, our student's future success is at the forefront of everything we do. Over $22 million in college scholarships were awarded to the 164 graduates in the SMR Class of 2023! On average, the Class of 2023 earned $134,000 per graduate in scholarships.

More than 150 College Preparatory, Honors and Advanced Placement courses are offered, including Project Lead the Way biomedical, engineering (focus on aerospace) and computer science (focus on cybersecurity) courses and Dual Enrollment opportunities with the College of Southern Maryland.

60% of our students are Catholic. All faiths are welcome!

The St. Mary’s Ryken Campus Ministry is the backbone of our school community, and over 200 students a year benefit from the faith formation and spiritual direction program. We offer daily Mass, monthly school-wide liturgies, class retreats, Christian service learning and an on-site chapel for daily prayer.

The St. Mary's Ryken Fine Arts department offers 7 stage productions each year (musical, drama, dance, chorus and instrumental) plus more performance and competition opportunities in the region

SMR Fine Arts promotes student talent and leadership through a range of classes and clubs that help foster an understanding of the arts. The Fine Arts department provides the student with a better understanding of the visual and performing arts through academic study and performance.

As a member of the highly competitive Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, St. Mary's Ryken offers a well-rounded athletic program with 23 varsity sports. Annually, we celebrate championship-winning teams and student-athletes who commit to four-year universities to continue playing their sport in college.

As a private high school, sponsored by the Xaverian Brothers, St. Mary's Ryken offers a unique experience for students in 9-12th grade.

The St. Mary's Ryken campus offers a high school experience like no other in the Southern Maryland area. Students experience a college-like campus that prepares them for life after high school. Each school day they walk between six buildings to their classes, benefit from the exposure of being outdoors, and between each class have a few minutes to visit with their peers.
